Thanks you guys you help me every time! How do you straighten your hair if it is terribly curly and frizzy?
Well first you have to blow dry you hair till it is all dry because that might be why you get the frizz. If you want products you can get like at walmart or a drug store(walgreens)
I would say to buy Frizz-Ease Straight Answer it's a spray that will make your hair straight and help with the frizz and protect your hair while you blow dry and I use this and I don't know how to blow dry my hair the right way and it works.
After you blow dry and before you flat iron use a serum/ spray/cream that is meant to be used with your flat iron and protect it from the heat there is many you can choose from Frizz-Ease has one. I use Paul Mitchell Super Skinny Serum sold at salons.
Also straighten your hair in small sections like 1or 2 inches at a time. I put my hair in a bun and starting at the bottom I take one inch sections and flat iron.
Before you do any straightening, if you want, when your hair is still wet put a little bit of leave in conditioner for frizz Herbal Essence has one.How do you straighten your hair if it is terribly curly and frizzy?
Always use straightening spray and heat protector. you need to get a better straightener. try the sedu. its sold on http://www.folica.com
Put in Frizz-Ease and blow-dry hair...then straighten your hair with a good Ceramic flat iron. GOOD LUCK
USE ANTI FRIZZ SERUM AND THEN STAIGHTEN UR HAIR!!
well my natural hair is curly so i know where u r coming from. i have a chi straightener and it works wonders. u can also apply garnier fructice to your hair while it is still wet and it reduces frizzines. another tip is dont get out of the shower with your hair wet, then dry it with a towel, then srtaighten it cuz that makes it worse. so there are many things that u can apply to your hair when wet that helps alot. u can use gloss too:)
I also have really frizzy hair, the best thing I use is John Frieda'a hair serum. It comes in a small bottle and u can get it anywhere. It works miracles on my hair!
use chi straightening serum. worth the money
- Go curly! Read the book and visit the sites below about curly hair. I did and my once horrible curly hair is now virtually frizz-free ringlets. Now I get compliments on my hair all the time! Straighten your hair- be happy for a day, learn to manage your curly hair- be happy for life!
- To style your hair using the curly-girl method you will need gel, a leave in cream, and conditioner at the minimum. Some less useful, but still nice stuff would be a blowdryer, a diffuser (reduces frizz in curly/wavy hair when used with dryer), and a microfiber hair turban (to dry wet hair while sleeping or in the morning).
-The main philosophy of the curly-girl method is to not use shampoo. This may sound unhygenic but it has actually made my hair less oily and dandruffy. Most shampoos contain some of the same chemicals found in laundry detergent (aka sodium laureth sulfate or anything close to that). They dry out curly hair. Also you shouldn't brush your curly hair dry because it damages the hair and makes it poof.
- Massaging of the scalp with conditioner to remove dirt is all that is needed. It will clean everything but super clingy silicones (cyclopentasiloxane and dimethicone are examples). Then rinse and spread conditioner on the outside layer of hair and the hair at the nape of your neck. Gently comb tangles out with your fingers or a wide toothed comb and rinse with cold/cool water.
- Do not brush/comb your hair after this point because it wil disturb the curl pattern (make sure you already have a part). It is also important to use gel on sopping wet hair and scrunch the hair with your fingers. Make sure gel is evenly distributed everywhere in your hair. If you use too much you can always scrunch out the crunchy texture later.
- Use paper towels or an old t-shirt to gently scrunch some of the water out (generic towels can make hair frizz). You can either let your hair air dry or wait ten minutes and then use a blowdryer with a diffuser. Dry until your hair is almost dry, and then let air dry the last bit. Do not touch the hair while it is air drying or it will frizz!
- Use a moisturizing conditioner, such as Desert Essence Organics Italian Red Grape Conditioner (found at health food/organic stores) or Activate Hydrating Conditioner (drugstore). The combo of products that I use daily is L'Oreal Out of Bed Weightless Texturizer (comes in a black-colored tub) and then Herbal Essences Totally Twisted Gel or Body Envy Gel, but there are more conditioners, gels, etc. on the websites. The products I recommended are my personal favorites and contain no silicones.
- Your hair may seem worse at first, but it is just adjusting. This may take a couple weeks to begin working. Before you decide to quit shampoo, do a final cleanse with shampoo and stop the use of any products with silicones in them. Hope this helps!

I use Biosilk Silk Therapy before straightening my hair and it works great.
Did you do it yourself. cuase if you go to the salon for your first time straightening they will definitely do a great job.
Well if that lady has done the straighterners before.
And then has your new growth comes in and you want to retouch the growth then you can buy and do one yourself on the new growth only....
use a straightening shampoo and buy a Paul Mitchell or CHI straightener
I have to say you are better off to invest in a professional flat iron from the salon. I realize that you can buy flat irons in the department stores for cheaper and yes they are ceramic plates but they are usually just plated, that's why the coating eventually flakes off. The difference is the actual heater inside the iron, but they don't tell the consumer that. That is why they are so expensive. Now on to what you want to know. If you are going to use your flat iron, and I mean any kind of flat iron , on a regular basis, cosider that you are damaging your hair which will actually contribute to the frizzies. Best left to occasional use. You could however solve your problem by permanently straightening your hair at the salon. BUT WAIT...some salons will just use a perm to do it. Ask the salon what product they will use. See if they use a product called Opti-Smooth by Matrix. You can either permanently straighten it or they can cold smooth it with this product. Cold smoothing will reduce the curl pattern to a more natural unified curl pattern without frizzies and it will stay that way and you can still have nice curl pattern when you want it. You are also o.k. to use your flat iron with great ease to completely straighten it when you want. I use this product in my salon and it's a miracle worker and the answer to problem hair. Make sure the stylist is experienced with the product though, you can't miss any steps. I would go with cold smoothing, you get the best of both worlds.
