I need something that would define my curls more and add moisture. Any ideas?What is a good moisturizing mousse for naturally curly hair?
Joico Joiwhip Mousse is all that comes to mind in specifically mousses. You can get it at ULTA. :)
If you want to run out and pick up some products locally, I recommend trying the following:
- Drugstore: L'oreal out of bed weightless texturizer (black tub, use under gel), LA Looks or Herbal essences gels, Suave naturals or vo5 conditioners, L'oreal vive pro hydra gloss for dry hair or nutri gloss for curly hair, red Cream of Nature shampoo
- Organic/specialty store (like whole foods): Giovanni Direct Leave in condish, Giovanni Triple Tea Treat shampoo, G conditioners, Aubrey Organics Honeysuckle Rose or White Camellia Conditioners, AO B-5 Design gel
- ULTA: Devacurl products, Biosilk rock hard gelee, MOP-c curl defining cream (They also carry drugstore products and giovanni.)

Here are some basic tips for curly hair that you might find helpful:
*Try to find a stylist who knows how to work with curly hair. You can find reviews by region here: http://www.naturallycurly.com/curlsalons
*Don't shampoo every day.
*Comb conditioner through hair in the shower.
*Apply styling products to dripping wet hair. Scrunch or twirl hair to achieve desired shape. A leave in conditioner under gel is generally good.
*Avoid terrycloth towels on hair; use linen, paper towels, or t-shirts instead.

*Don't touch (or brush!) your hair while it鈥檚 drying.
*Once completely dry scrunch out any crunchy texture.
Lastly, it has made my hair so much better since I started the curly girl method! I used to almost never wear it down (it was a frizz/poof ball), but now I have pretty, shiny curls. ~:) It鈥檚 pretty radical鈥攏o sulfates (shampoo) or silicones鈥攂ut it鈥檚 so great for curly hair. These are both great shampoos that are both moisturizing and will help encourage your curl power. If you have extra frizzy hair, I suggest trying either of these two products. Shampoos that encourage curls are naturally more gentle on your hair and are harder to overdo.

Here are my favorite daily conditioners. A daily conditioner should be thick and the most moisturizing possible. These are made especially for dry hair. If you have dry hair, you need moisture, and if you have naturally curly hair that is also dry, moisture is that much more important.

These are some of my favorite gels that always keep my curls well defined and in place. They are designed for curly hair, so they won鈥檛 leave your hair stiff and sticky. They add just enough hold to keep your hair in curls, but not so much that you get crunchy, stiff curls. It leaves the bounce you love.

Mousse is a nice alternative to gel that may help give you volume if that鈥檚 what you need. I often prefer mouse because it tends to curl a little more and keep them very soft, smooth, and bouncy.

In my own experience and opinion, these are the best curly hair products out there. They will get you the best curls. Experiment and see what works for you.
Steps to get smooth curly hair:
Step1: Your first step begins in the shower. Wash your hair with high-quality salon shampoo, or a top drug store brand such as John Freida. Rinse.
Step 2: Condition with a moisturizing conditioner--curly hair tends to be dry and needs the extra moisture and nourishment. Rinse with COLD water, but do not rinse conditioner out fully. Leave a little in hair to help with styling and continual moisturizing.
Step 3: Towel dry hair very gently by blotting with a special moisture-absorbing hair towel. Do not ring or twist or pull on hair. Once hair is towel dried, comb it out very carefully and delicately. Getting it ';straight'; is not the goal; you just want to ensure that all tangles and kinks are out. This can be done using your fingers instead of a fine-toothed comb.
Step 4: Squeeze a dime-sized dollop of hair serum (such as John Frieda's Frizz-Ease) into your palm. Pull through hair, lightly scrunching and being sure to apply evenly across strands. Concentrate on ends, not roots. Applying serum to roots can cause greasiness.
Step 5: It's mousse time. Choose your favorite medium to light hold mousse (such as John Freida Frizz-Ease Mousse). Squeeze a very generous ball of mousse into your two palms and begin to lightly scrunch into hair. Use more than you think you may need, with your total mousse ball looking like the size of a very large apple. Make sure to distribute mousse evenly throughout curls.
Step 6: Now, squeeze a quarter to half-dollar sized amount of hair or curly hair lotion (such as John Frieda cream) into your palm. Evenly scrunch and distribute through hair, using this to twist any misbehaving ringlets or troublesome spots.
Step 7: Let hair air dry or use a diffuser on a low setting to dry curls. Do not comb or aggressively crunch hair. Lightly crunch and twist as needed thro
