Semi-formal hair style for a strapless dress?

Soooo, here's the deal. I've got my semi-formal school dance coming up in a couple of weeks, and I don't know what to do with my hair. My hair is dark blond, very thick, and goes about 6 inches below my shoulders. My dress is strapless, and has a bold pattern to it. My question is, should I wear my hair up or down? What would look best with a strapless dress? Keep in mind it's a SEMI-formal event. I'm getting my hair dresser to do it, so pictures would be much appreciated.

put the back in a bun and the front part (only a few strands!) hanging down. wavy or curled hair would look best like this, its what im doing next year. my hair is light blonde and wavy so it looks awesome. hope this works and have a great time at the dance!Semi-formal hair style for a strapless dress?
