How should I style wet naturally curly hair after the shower?

I always let my hair dry naturally, but never know the best way to style it. I put gel in my hair, then sometimes i leave it down, and that really gets the most frizz. then i have done half up and half down, but that part in the back thats up, gets frizzy . Then whenever i put my hair in a ponytail when its wet, its good, but my curls are tangled up. Any suggestions ? : )How should I style wet naturally curly hair after the shower?
hey! i have naturally curly hair too, and used to always straighten it because i didn't know how to make it look good. i don't like that my curly hair to look wet, stringy, or like i have too much product in it. after trying a lot of different methods, i think i have finally perfected my curls though, and i even got two compliments on my curls just this week from some people i work with!! here's what i do:

as soon as i get out of the shower, i brush my hair upside down (this creates volume later) i squeeze out some of the water, but it's best to leave it as wet as possible (this keeps the curls together and less frizzy).

then i use garnier fructise mousse (but for me, the mousse i use doesn't really matter. herbal essences and pantene work just as well) i use about a tennis ball size amount of mousse and just kind of apply it from the back of my hair to the front, making sure to get the hair in the middle also. i do this with my head still upside down, and i DONT separate the strands of curls. it's kind of more of a ';squeezing'; the mousse into the hair and definitely NOT combing it through. it is best if the strands are at least 3/8'; to 1/4'; thick. when they get much smaller than this, your curls will look stringy or will be frizzy.

after this i put about a dime size of john freida's frizz-ease into the palm of my hands, rub it in my hands, then just pat it onto my curls, lifting/pressing them towards my scalp and ';encouraging'; their curl. i try not to use my fingers too much because this separates them and makes the curls frizzier.

your hair should still be really wet, so it's good to wrap a towel around your head for awhile ( i usually leave it on for about 15 minutes)

after most of the excess water has been soaked up by my towel, i take off the towel and let my hair fall around my face. since i brush my hair upside down and let it towel dry ';up';, it still has good volume. the curls should still be in thick strands and look wet. the biggest no no is to touch the curls!! again- it will separate and make them frizzy. do whatever you can to just let your hair air dry without touching your hair AT ALL. if you absolutely have to, you can blow dry it (it usually takes your hair about an hour to completely air dry).

put your blow dryer on the lowest setting, and if you can, blow dry the underneath hair first with your head upside down. if you blow dry your hair too soon, your natural curls won't have found their place yet, and this will either make them less curly, tangled, or stringy.

once your hair is at least 90% dry, it's okay to touch it (haha- must resist the urge to touch it!) if parts of your curls have become a little bit crunchy from the mousse, squeeze them in your hands from top to bottom, but don't try to comb them out or separate them.

so yea- that should just about do it. trust me- i have tried allllllll different ways of wearing my hair curly, and over many trials and errors, this is the best i have come up with! let me know if you have any more questions! How should I style wet naturally curly hair after the shower?
Hi Erin,

There is a book called ';Curly Girl'; by Lorraine Massey that is definitely one of the best resources for the ';girl of curl.'; You can get an inexpensive used copy on Amazon.com for less than $5. I've also seen it in my local library.

The book gives very easy practical advice for frizz fighting maidens who long for gorgeous tameable Botticelli curls. I think you'll find this book to be a great resource for your on-going hair battle.

Best wishes!!
When you get out of the shower, towel dry your hair really well. Then use some gel and scrunch your hair. Then let it air dry for 5 min. Next use a difuser.(you can find at any beauty salon i think even at walmart or target) then seprate curls. Then hairspray if needed. It depends on if your hair is really, really curly or not. It works for me and takes me 15-20 min.!

Hope this helped!
You could try some of the anti-frizz serum so you could scrunch it or you could straighten it one day...

Thats all i could really think of because my hair is pretty straight so i have no expirience with ur type of hair although my friend has really long curly hair and she always brushes it out really well then puts in leave-in conditioner and then scrunches it and puts on a headband..
I think you should brush it really good after you get out of the shower (when it's still wet), use really good conditioner (from a beauty salon or go to http://www.herbalessences.com/us/find_yo and see wich one is right for you.) I know they have non frizz gel. Mabe put your hair in a loose bun. Hope This Helps!!!!! : )
first blow dry it but just so it doesn't have any water drippin be sure your hair still damp then get aussie's sprunch spray then spray around your head and lift your hair so you get the under hair, scrunch it and well a!
try brushing it so that it is knot free and then straighten it until basically all the curls are gone!!!
hey take i look at my question i asked the same thing

hope this helps!
Use a pomade to separate the curls, then leave it down and scrunch it with mousse. (while your hair is wet)
